Portal Labs is a web application development firm that delivers solid web development, project management, and web design expertise on a range of platforms.

Portal Labs was formed in 2006 by founders Jacob Coby and Jason Chance- two guys working together for over 10 years. We're headquartered in the Greensboro, NC area and our US based developers focus on quality above all.

In addition to consulting, hosting, and custom web development, Portal Labs delivers value-added services in online marketing, IT Integration, and limited systems and software support roles.

Jacob Coby

The technical lead at Portal Labs, Jacob Coby is an experienced programmer that has served as a team leader and lead developer for sites serving 25M+ pages per month.

He is skilled in PHP, Python, and Ruby along with numerous development tools, database technologies, and more. Jacob's impressive programming and technology resume allows him to custom tailor powerful solutions to meet customers time and budget restraints. Jacob's experience with setting up source control systems, custom web server hardware configurations, and network load balancing allow him to build scalable, robust solutions.

Jacob's experience ranges from the custom design of an MVC framework for a nationwide real estate site to the design and development of plug ins for popular CMS tools. He has worked on sites from small business up to sites with 25M+ page views a month. Jacob also has experience with setting up payment gateways, advanced search and sort tools, advanced database design, Google Maps API integration, and more.

Jacob's name is on two pending technology patents.

In his spare time Jacob is an avid mountain biker and has obtained his private pilot's license.

Jason Chance

Focusing on interface design, customer support, and project management, Jason Chance has the technical skills and business experience to interface between developer and clients to effectively reach client goals. Skilled at UI design, Jason develops user interfaces for most Portal Labs projects.

Jason has served as the Online Product Manager for numerous eCommerce and corporate sites and has experience managing teams of developers and outside contractors. Jason has developed and integrated commerce, quoting, CRM, and accounting solutions for business ranging from 50 to 500 employees.

With a working knowledge of PHP and other development tools, Jason develops site plans and interfaces with client companies to identify features and make suggestions on what will work best for a given development objective. A strong corporate IT background allows him to integrate custom solutions with existing corporate IT infrastructure and information systems.

In his spare time Jason enjoys competitive shooting and working in his home workshop.
